    Provides basic crisis intervention, de-escalation and stabilization, mental health needs assessments to adults who are experiencing a mental health and/or substance abuse crisis 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Performs these duties under immediate supervision as part of an inter-disciplinary team. Conducts a comprehensive mental health needs assessment for each client. Provides basic client de-escalation and stabilization; and assists in the maintenance of a safe, secure environment. Coordinates interventions and de-escalation strategies with the inter-disciplinary team and external providers as appropriate. Coordinates discharge planning and external referrals with other staff as appropriate. Collaborates with inter-disciplinary team members in order to assist in the provision short term case management to clients. Provides brief solution focused interventions and reassesses current level of need with clients waiting for higher level of care. With inter-disciplinary team input triages clients experiencing psychiatric emergencies, including suicide ideation and/or attempts, and determines which intervention is needed. Identifies appropriate clinical resources and makes referrals when necessary. Documents all information obtained in evaluation, assessment, consultation, referral and disposition to comply with regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring best possible client outcome. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology, social work or related field required

    2. Current crisis prevention training, or MOAB during General Orientation required

  • BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation
  • Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements):

    • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.

    · On feet up to 8-12 hours, depending on length of shift.

    · Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment.

    · Read charts, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed and handwritten materials.

    · Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person, on the telephone and through written documentation.

    · Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.

    · Potential exposure to contagious diseases, body fluids, hazardous chemicals, needles and other infected material.

    • Exposure to violent and unpredictable individuals.

    Work Environment:

    · KH operates 24 hours per day each day of the year, operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients.

    · Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
